I want to keep a stash somewhere safe for good measure so that I still have access to it,

should I put my second bottle in plastic bag then dig hole in my backyard and burry it?

Burying it could work, you would want to use a sealed container and silica gel packs to ensure it stays dry underground. I was going to do this myself to ensure i never loose access to some SN.

I'm not sure I can invest time/effort to source gel pack,
but do you think I can wrap some paper towel around it?
The sn original bottle is not opened. So if I put in paper towel then plastic bag, maybe it's okay?

I don't have shovel, can only dig with spoon lol unless I find a small container to fit into a small hole I dig.

(I'm planning to store it outside the house on short term basis for ctb backup).

No, it has to be a sealed airtight continer or the moisture will ruin it IMO. Wrapping it with paper or plastic is bound to fail. A small tupperware container with a rubber seal would be good, these are quite cheap/common.

Silica gel packs are also very cheap, you can order like 100 small sachets delivered for ~$5.

Digging a hole with your hands would be okay, as long as its deep enough so your dog doesn't pull it out and try eat it. ☠️

Is one of those glad seal plastic sandwich bag okay?

ugh no time to carefully hide the treasure, hopefully paper towel, sealed sandwich bag plus Tupperware helps keep moisture out...

I dont think sandwich baggies are that water proof.

Yeah a tupperware will do, I'd take more time to do it properly if i was you, you don't want to loose your ticket to the bus. ;)

A mattress would be a good hiding place. I just made a small tear in the side and slid the bottle in. It's a fairly decent hiding spot as long as you make sure to get the bottle far in enough to avoid the risk of there being a visible lump/the bottle falling out.

I unscrewed a router/modem and used black tape to hold it inside. I don't think anyone would ever think to check the inside of a electronic component. I guess you could place it inside of a TV, old VCR, or whatever.

Wouldn't the heat destroy it?

Sometimes my mom takes the mattress out when she cleans thoroughly. Will there be a visible tear?

It's sitting in storage unused; that's why I was saying to use something like a old VCR. I can't see anyone taking the time to rummage through old electronics in general much less unscrew them to find your suicide method.

I see.. I don't know, I'm so paranoid now, I'm scared that even old, unused devices still have some heat in there..please tell me I'm being paranoid and they don't have heat

Based in New Zealand and also looking for SN, just need to have something there to let me know that being able to CTB isn't far away if I need it. Real pain trying to find any here and googling results nothing.

Any help or PM is greatly appreciated.

My kit is hidden in a granola bar box. Tupperware packed with paper towels to fill the space and prevent rattling, and 2 layers of the granola bars on each end for any casual inspection. I hot glued it back shut, along where the original adhesive was. I'm pretty confident in that hiding spot. It's not like I have to worry about feds, I just need to pass the landlord, parents, and maybe a welfare check if shit goes south.

3-5 years in the manufacturer sealed bottle. It cakes after about 6-8 months, but you can break it apart easily with a spoon.

Once you break the seal, I wouldn't depend on that bottle after about 6 months, even if you close it up tight.

Me, as well. Need to have redundancy/failsafes in the plan. Just trying to figure out airtight storage solutions and a fairly small storage package size.

I continue to be perplexed by these types of posts. "Where do I hide my SN?" "What will I tell people if they find my N?" I'm genuinely not trying to be rude, but common sense for these types of situations usually works.

In all seriousness, if you wanted to hide anything from your family or someone you might live with, where would that be?

I suggested a paint can earlier.

If you live in a home with some sort of garage, empty an old can of paint you know will never get used. You know, the type people keep for touching up paint that never happens. Empty the paint, then put your sn in (original container) then pack it with sand.

The sand should help keep the air and moisture out, and you are kinda hiding it in plain sight.
