What does it mean to take the short bus?

I've seen some people talk about taking the short bus on here and I don't know what that means... could someone please explain?

Where I am from it means the handicap bus....as in....disabled mentally or otherwise....usually the first. As far as on here for all I know it is some other term I am unaware of.

Now catching the bus...totes different....lol
