A colleague asked me how can I have depression and suicidal tendencies if I am financially well. I didn't know what to say.

Point them towards the celebrities who've committed suicide. Chester berrington for example

Your colleague should be suicidal because he/she is too dumb to live

Financial wellness does not necessarily equate with mental wellness.

Your colleague doesn't seem to understand that there are lots of different reasons why people are depressed or suicidal. Don't feel too bad about not knowing what to say. People always surprise me with their reactions and half of the time I don't know what to say either.

I don't know what to say either when people spout retarded bs like that. Sometimes a question is so dumb that it short circuits my brain.

"Money prevents depression" is an empirical claim. It is on them to demonstrate that via repeatable experiments.

I would've just told him/her that money can help a lot but in the end, it can't force you to make you feel like living and life won't still make any sense with it.

As for me, I will be suicidal no matter how much money, love, friends and great times I have.

I find existence pointless. We're just apes stuck on a blue rock who get older and die and started existing in spite of never having asked for that.

Nonsense!

Your friend doesn't understand that depression is a disease that affects your brain. It's like another organ of your body is wrong.

People who haven't been suicidal themselves will never be able to comprehend it. That is a fact. Some people's brains are simply wired differently to others. We have limited control over how we feel.

This can be seen as an ignorant attitude. Yes money can help to alleviate stress and suffering to an extent, but it does not always make a persons problems magically vanish - depending on what those problems are of course. If an individual has some type of neurological condition as the result of severe child hood trauma, for example, then wealth will mean little in the larger picture, because that person will still be haunted by their own painful experiences.
