I'm so sorry, both for the loss of your mom and now your job. I've sadly found many employers to be very unsympathetic in these situations. It's like employees are money making machines and not human. You deserved more compassion and understanding than this.

EDIT: Just saw your update. I'm glad that was a mistake and you haven't lost your mom. But very sorry you lost your job in any case :(

Did you work for a big company? Sometimes there will be an HR person who could sort this out. You don't deserve this treatment, your employers should feel ashamed to take your livelihood away over needing one day off.

I'm really sorry to hear this but those who fired you can go to hell.
There are lots of jobs out there. I'm sure you'll find something, maybe even better than your previous job!
I've had like 15 different jobs and just couldn't find my place in the world because I hated being bossed around.
Then, I found teaching and became my own boss.

Wish you the best of luck.

The HR woman, she knew my mother from when my mother worked at the prior company that fired her, one year from retirement, causing her to spiral into depression. Then she said "if you need anything, I know its a hard time for you right now, let me know." Well I needed just one more chance and a day and they washed their hands clean of me. Worst thing is, I know it sounds very petty, but if I had killed myself they'd probably forget all about me and not feel bad. I am just down right now, sorry for seeming a bit more emotional and high strung.

They are losing employees left and right, one employee today quit today in protest of how I was treated and multiple people are vouching for me because I was working every day almost 12 hours a day for about 2 months. Just blegh

She died around feb 2020, just was her birthday and the way she died was a bit depressing. Thank you for the kind words, I wish they had empathy, if it was their family or friend, they wouldn't have fired them I just know it. It is honestly like I didn't matter at all, all that work I did. Though that is just what it is.

Company sounds like a royal piece of shit to work for. You don't need to work for such a toxic company like them and can go somewhere else. Maybe a competitor of theirs just to spite them.

Companies: those places in which only the ones at the top have lots of money while you're a slave. I deffo never wanna go back there.

Ah I see, thank you for clarifying this. I'm really sorry to hear about your mom's passing. It's completely understandable that her birthday would be depressing and difficult for you. It really shows how little empathy your employer has, especially after all the hard work you gave. That's incredibly unfair. You deserve much better - it sounds like they missed out on a great employee.

The workforce truly sucks. I know how it feels to be dropped lack a sack of spuds after working your ass off for someone, it really puts the values of the employer into perspective. I hope you can find a much nicer place to work.

I'm sorry. Was also fired once. It's demeaning. But don't let it get to you. Most employers are scumbags anyway and rarely show one the appreciation or respect one deserves.
