Using this forum is confusing

- People refer to substances with letters. I don't know what these abbreviations stand for or how I can learn what they mean. I feel like clarification about why this is done and how this information can be learned would be extremely helpful, especially to new users like me.

are you on a phone or lpatop? for me on a laptop search is top right of the screen

I spent years here reading before I started posting. It can be confusing and I used to work in the medical field where there is an abbreviation for everything.

If you have specific questions about the site and site layout, maybe ask a moderator for help.

you need to scroll higher then that, just seen someone has managed to print screen it

I can clearly see a search bar on my screen. I am wondering if this may have to do with whether or not you are using a phone vs. a laptop or some other reason. That is why I would suggest asking a moderator.

I don't have that. I can scroll to the top and it doesn't appear. Maybe adblocking software is preventing it from loading. I'll disable it and check. FYI my screen:




Edit: After disabling adblockers there is still no search. I'm using the lateset version Firefox on Windows 7. I guess I will talk to the moderators for help on this.

It's for Twitch. They change their source code for spamming ads about once a week. One adblocker is never enough, and usually neither is two. The third one will have been updated fast enough so that it will block the ad, and if not, one of the other two will. Anyway, it shouldn't matter to you and you're not being very helpful so I'd appreciate it if you clicked elsewhere.

weird I just went to the theme you have and it shows a search bar, i have two ad blockers on :/

Could try disabling your extensions one by one and refreshing to see if one of the extensions you're using is blocking a search bar.

Well, I tried it in Chrome -- a browser I never use, with no extensions. No search bar there either, so I really have no idea. I think I will close the thread if that's possible and let a moderator try to help with this. It might be a Windows 7 issue ?? I don't know.

You aren't logged in in Chrome. You need to login to use the search bar.

Yeah, logging into Chrome showed the search bar but not the top header. Also, I didn't realize that by going into preferences I could have opened a ticket and done other things useful for contacting a moderator. Well, now I know. I will try to see if changing the theme makes this easier.

No no, it's fine now. How or why I'm not sure. It's an older PC but it's not that bad. I have everything back to normal in Firefox now. Search bar, but no top header unless I change themes.

Have you tried entering SS from your phone? If the search bar also doesn't show up there, it's probably related to the amount of your posts.
Some weeks ago a new user had the same problem.
Keep on posting and it should pop up.

I also have like 3 adblock extensions because 1 is not enough for blocking certain ads lol.
