Tommorow my dog that was with me and my family for 12 years is going to be euthanasied, she was the most loyal friend i had and kept me company when i was down and depressed. She helped me throught my mental crisis earlier this year, but two months ago she was diagnosed with cancer in her jaw, currently it spreaded to her tongue, neck and all the surroundings and we decided its time to end her life tommorow, its... Its just feels surreal that its happening her presence was consant her funny sneezing when you pet her is what made us smile, she was very calm dog... She helped me to make it alive... I cant believe she will be gone tommorow ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Also i thought that this thread could be a venting thread since losing pet companion is quite common so share your stories with your experiences if you want to ๐Ÿ‘€

Its my dogo
Also what sucks that my family have to argue in time like this, meaning my older sister with our mother... Its not the time to be arguing, im afraid that this situation will re-spark their arguments again, last time when they argued my sister moved from our house what will happen now is beyond my comprehesion ,_,

And sorry if this thread is unnesecary and i know others have it worse and im quite privileged ๐Ÿ˜ถโ€๐ŸŒซ๏ธ So sorry for venting

Your pain is VALID in any case! I'm sorry you'll lose your dog, your best friend and your dog means so much to you! But you should be happy your dog is relieved from unnecessary pain and useless suffering! That is what counts! Be happy for your dog!
I'm well aware how painful it is to lose a loved pet who has been a family member for many years! I wish you strength and all the best! ๐Ÿซ‚ ๐Ÿซ‚

Yes, im coming to peace with it... She had a good life, and she will die with dignity and without suffering.

And thank you for your kind words ๐Ÿ˜‡

It also made me think about euthanasia in general, like why society so easy to give peaceful death to animals but not humans? Buttt im not in mood to think about it intensely ๐Ÿ˜ถโ€๐ŸŒซ๏ธ

Losing a loving pet has scientifically been proven to be able to cause the same amount, if not more grief in someone as losing a human loved one. Your pain id perfectly justified and valid.
I recently (about 6 months ago) took my dog that I have had for 12 years to the vet only to find out she has cancer that developed from a mammary tumor from me not getting her fixed before she aged. They gave her a weeks worth of antibiotics and told me she had a "50/50% chance of surviving the week" Again, that was 6 months ago but I have noticed her health slowly deteriorating over this time. She has lost a lot of weight, isn't eating like she should and its a a struggle for her to even walk around to go to the bathroom. She isn't in pain or any strong discomfort but its still hard to watch my best friend of 12 years die slowly in front of my eyes. And with nothing I can do for her to help. So, trust me when I say I understand.

You don't have to ever apologize for loving your pet. I know how you feel it is horrible. Pets love us no matter what no one else does that. I am so sorry you have to deal with the pain. I know it's trite but she's def better off considering her illness. Again I am do sorry for you loss. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’”

The pain of losing a pet is so underestimated by society. In april my cat, who was there from the start of my life, had to be euthanized at 20 years old. The days leading up to it were agonizing, and I can imagine it's the same for you. It leaves an entirely different emptiness behind when they pass, and it lasts; for me it's still there, so the hole left behind takes time to heal - knowing you'll never see them again.

I am 55 and have lost several pets over the years. It's devastating every time. It never gets easier. Losing my pets has been worse than any humans I have lost.

Pet loss is horrible. There are some online support groups to deal with the grief you feel from pet loss (especially on Reddit), and please don't listen to anyone who tells you it's "not real grief". Pets can be family, friends, companions. It's only normal to grieve for them.

Currently doing better, i let it all out yesterday and cried and screamed until i passed out... Sad to hear your loss, its really hard to say goodbye to a friend...

It had to be hard to watch you friend detoriate on your eyes, from what i understand she is still alive? It sucks that there is nothing to help with it, you can only be with her till her last moments, thats what ive done, it stinks your heart in most painful way imaginable seeing her spark dissapearing on your eyes... I bet she is grateful for life she spent with you, stay safe and cherish moments you have with her ๐Ÿ˜‡

Thanks, i just thought its not good place to vent but didnt had any other place for it so i thought i could share and feel better that i do and met with compassion and understanding (My brain thought i would met with hatred, but thats my brain again) She is in peace, but its painful imaging her laying in the ground being decomposed and rotting... Alone, cold... This sucks, but it will get better... We will plant an oak on her grave in spring, i will think thats her growing tall and strong ,_,

Im sorry for anyone who had to go throught any kind of loss...

Agreed, its easy to meet with phrase like 'its just a dog why you care so much?' but it depends if you have connection with you pet-friend. Having to euthanize cat that was with you for 20 years must been really tought... Im sorry you had to go throught this, 20 years knowing your cat is a lot and suddenly it ended, im really sorry... Did this hole got smaller for you? Or do you feel the same emptiness as you did when she died? Sorry if this is too personal question, you dont have to answer ๐Ÿ˜…

This may seem silly but my childhood cat passed away when I was around 13, it broke me when I was that age, she was 17 years old and had always been there for me when since I was a baby, I grew up with that cat, it's always hard losing a pet

It still feels empty, knowing that the cat I grew up with is no longer there, though it was definitively worse when the wound was fresh. I still visit her grave, occasionally tending it, sometimes even talking, even though she won't hear me. The weeks after she was gone, I sometimes went into rooms, expecting her to be there, only to be reminded that she's well gone, (or in the freezer, if I'm blunt). Tbh, this felt unbearable, and it was for the entire family, so we nearly immediately looked for a new cat to fill the space of the old one. We've had the new cat for half a year now, and it has eased the sadness, though I still wish we had the old one.
