Does anyone on this forum know of any at-home projects which incorporate nitrogen (or helium or argon)? I live with others and would need a believable excuse for its presence, but all that I'm finding involving inert gases online limits their applicability to major industrial aims.

I don't know if you can make it work, and kinda doubt it, but a lot of (ill informed) people use it to inflate their automobile tires now instead of air. Also, it's used in some electronics soldering and many people do that as a hobby when restoring old electronics gear. Can't really think of anything else for typical "Joe" home-owner type people, though. Can you rent a storage unit and keep it there?

Well there isn't really any casual reason to have a cylinder of compressed nitrogen just sitting in the garage, but there are some hobbies that utilize it!

Maybe take on beer brewing? A common use with nitrogen is in food it beverages.

Take on welding, especially useful with argon since welding with nitrogen is more specialized and not as common.

Car shocks/car tires
This requires some automobile interest.

These are some options that require large quantities of inert gases.

Only somewhat related. Do most suppliers of relevant gases ask many questions about their intended use? I'm not sure what explanations they will simply accept.

Can you say a little more about this?

I'm now looking on craigslist because it seems like everything else has collapsed. Someone selling nitrogen for tires. Wondering if it would be right for my purpose?
