• Hello Guest,

We will not be following or complying with the Online Safety Bill that was recently signed into law in the UK. This bill will not affect the operations of the site, nor do we have a presence in the UK to receive notice or fines that the UK Government may impose.

We would highly recommend that all users from the UK get some sort of VPN, and you should petition your lawmakers to let them know how you feel about this piece of draconian legislation.

Actually, I think that'd be really smart. I don't know if it's doable and it probably wouldn't achieve anything but if it was fronted by ctbers who are very articulate it would make a point. It would need to be carefully monitored in that the most vulnerable couldn't take part as it could be argued they'd been brainwashed.

I don't think it'd go so we'll with the media. I'd love to contribute to the cause though

The most powerful thing we can do, is to keep exercising our right to free speech on this issue. And keep on top of the latest methods for achieving a peaceful exit. And react quickly to any changing trends that happen in society. There is no point in appealing to unreasonable people in society, particularly anyone using a dusty old book that was written 1,000's of years ago as their guiding criteria for decisions being made in the year 2023.

If nobody wants to open doors for us, we'll just have to break them down ourselves. And we will, given enough time and effort. They can't stop this movement towards fairness and greater human dignity... they can only slow the process down, and they know this. They're fighting a losing battle.

I would be down! I want to die anyways so why not go out for a good cause…I believe that mentally ill people (like me lol, I’m one of them) should also have the right to die, not just physically ill people

In conclusion: Bad idea.

Good points. It would be challenging to assess & exclude vulnerable people from taking part, and it would no doubt be pathologized as brainwashing and a death cult.

Thanks so much for your contributions peeps ❤️
Fantasy faded faster than it sprang into existence. It'll be a sad, lonely and painful death for all! 😆

I think its crazy. Mental illness can be so severe i person doesnt want to live no more. Mental ilnes can have different reasons, it can be caused by phycial trauma, youth trauma, chronic illness. In my case its due to physical trauma/chronic and somatic constant pain and phycial trouble which have affected my brain function. He then should be given the option to get their hands on a substance that can end their suffering. This isnt still the case here in Netherlands Europe. Yes we have a euthanasia law here but it is almost impossible to use it!!. You either get rejected right away just me, after you send the documents with you story written on why you request euthanasia. Or they let you wait minimum 3 years. Other fast reliable options like barbiturates are too impossible to get. They all made it you difficult as a person to just die. We live in an overly pro life society.

Overall I do not think a mass suicide in protest would be a good idea.

It would certainly draw a massive amount of attention from all corners of society. It could highlight the suffering, and extreme frustration that suicidal people experience every day of their lives. Viewing a suicide event of this size would help others to realize that many people from all different backgrounds can feel suicidal, and that it is not simply an ideation from a small minority of so-called "warped minds"; this in turn could open up a dialogue in which those with a pro-choice stance could argue their views without being instantly stigmatized.

But there is a serious downside: deindividuation. This is a type of behavior which exists at many large events such as concerts; for example: a peaceful protest can quickly turn into a bloody riot when one person decides to throw a rock through a shop window, and then everybody else around them follows along. At a suicide protest this "deindividuation" could manifest itself as people who are witnessing the event - and not even suicidal initially - taking their own lives just for the sake of it - because they see others doing it en masse. This would spread through different media channels, and a deadly trend could grow.

Then again some users may argue that a spread of violence can accomplish certain goals, so I could be wrong. I still do NOT encourage mass suicide though.
