Because the deterioration from the health conditions it causes are usually long, drawn-out & painful, and not guaranteed to result in death. It may just force you to continue to live, but with more physical ailments. Liver/organ failure isn't a kind way to go.

So, do you think Jim Morrison was a deeply unhappy person to drink that much?

Definitely. Alcohol numbs the pain, but once it wears off and you feel it start to return you down another bottle to stave it off. It's a seemingly endless cycle and it makes sense to die from it eventually.

I want to CTB at 24. Welcome to the Early Twenties club!
It only goes downhill from here unfortunately. If what are supposed to be the best years of our lives instead fill us with dread, then just what exactly do our futures hold in store for us? It makes me tremble to think about.

Jim also took a lot of LSD, and someone on SS said they were surprised he lasted so long. He used to take it five times a day. What is it about LSD that makes it so dangerous?

I wouldn't know, I've never tried it. I guess maybe you gradually start to lose touch with reality altogether? But that's just a thought with no evidence backing it.

All I know is that the universe is a very strange place and nothing makes sense.

"According to people who grew up with Jim Morrison he started showing up to school drunk at the age of 12 or 13."
He got started nice and early it seems.

He was a legend. I recently re-watched The Doors, currently on Netflix (UK). I guess with alcohol it's a long-term project, a slow suicide often with an unpleasantly slow end. Regards my 'alcohol use disorder' I guess a run of a few self-destructive drunks (like the one I had just this weekend) might be enough to push me over the edge and make me reach for the bag of SN once sobered up. I can't get a hold of opiates.

I think we're really intelligent individuals because normies, in comparison to us, just don't realize how absurd and pointless living is.
Sure, life can be awesome but it's mostly suffering. This world is a hell! Just visit a children's hopitan and see them dying and suffering! Nonsense!

I also share Jim's point of view about life. And he's right in many things he wrote in his lyrics. "The End" for example, my fav. Can't remember if he said he wanted to die young. Some people live too fast. By the way, I'm near my 30s and I think I've experience enough of life. I have nothing left to offer to this world.

I love Jim... The Collected Works of Jim Morrison was released today. He was a man of superior insight and we are blessed to have been left with his wisdom and talent, decades later.

I hope you find peace in whatever way works for you.

He also wanted to have sex with his mother…

As someone with a similar experience to Jim (at least in the acid department), I think I have a somewhat informed opinion on this matter. Note that the experience itself is unique to the individual, but I think its also safe to say that the more you trip, the higher chance you have of the magic fading away. Actually this is true of life as well. The longer you live, the more you get used to, the more you get used to, the more you get bored of, the more you get bored of, the less you have to keep you content, the less you have to keep you content, the less you have to use as a justification to be alive. The thing about acid is that its like your life on steroids in the most awesome possible way. If you think you notice the banalities of life sober, taking enough LSD frequently will be a speedrun to only being swamped with those banalities when sober. You wont be able to see anything besides a loop, you will wonder why you wake up the next day because the structure of the day, no matter how many 'surprises' you might anticipate, will not excite you anymore. Your vitality will deplete until you go insane and decide to exit.

I get this even with abstinence breaks between alcohol binges. Nothing really excites me other than you guessed it: the next binge. Basically I can see why I was an everyday drinker for so many years. I also did the odd shroom trip back in the day but not so regularly.
