It's so strange to realize with your brain that you will soon be gone. It's over. Black screen.

Agreed, it's hard to think you just wont exist. What is left is just meat, it's not actually you.

We are made to think we are going to heaven or hell if raised in a religion. Religion just has us afraid of the unknown so we can continue to be a means to an end for everyone else, neglecting our on release in the process.

But it happens to everyone. Right? Sooner or later.

You don't think there's an afterlife either?

Yes we all have to be released at some point but what is scary is that we don't know where we will go. I'm sure it will just be a blank screen.

I'm not sure at this point. Even if it was, I don't think it is accurately described in any religious text.

Okay, I'll just turn off my cool song and relax. 7 liters of beer should forgive me. Ohh...

Hmm,sometimes I think about this and get scared. But then I remember about all the times where I just sleep and don't dream. It's honestly like a time skip or something. I could not wake up and I wouldn't even notice.

I find it comforting to know that one day, regardless of what happens, I'll be gone.

I agree, it's a little comforting too though. Being human is just a lot of existential dread, wish I was a frog instead.

It certainly is. I wonder what stop existing feels like. Or maybe we won't feel anything and it'll be just like the time before we were born...

Suicide is scary -- dying is scary and there are these indelible lines in our programming that compels this meat machine to delay the inevitable end. Death is equally unsettling because it is impossible to determine from our end, whether it is a "state" or simply dead bodies. There is no way to understand it, measure it or figure out what happens (if anything happens at all). No matter how we try to take it apart with logic, death is simply beyond our ability to reckon. Even if we try to take solace in plausible "it will be just like the time before we came to be", it isn't a reference point that we can make use of. That to me is terrifying because I personally take comfort in being able to break things down into something that follows a set of rules that I can understand.

I suspect that consciousness and everything we are dies with the body. It's a terrible waste and a tragedy because there is no "peace" to be found in death since there is no "us" to be cognizant of our own passing. When I feel anxious about dying, I try to remind myself that whether it is tomorrow, next month, or 60 years from now, I will die. It doesn't matter if we run into the arms of death or fight him off until he finally takes us, our fate remains unchanged. If there is something far kinder to be had after this, please universe, do prove me wrong.

The longer I've been suicidal the more at peace I'm getting with the whole notion of non-existence.

You wanna know why nothingness is the greatest blessing of them all after death?!

Imagine being conscious for eternity. Really try to imagine it. It's hell!

Ok, so the first 100 years in 'heaven' much wow great. So much fun.

1000 years later.. Yeah great.. still cool and stuff..

10,000 years later, after having lots of fun so far you start to realize something is off..

100,000 years later, panic starts to kick in. No escape.

1,000,000 years later, total dread knowing that this sick theme-park dreamland just got started never to end ever...

That is my fear. What if I die and consciousness is not gone, and what happens after is eternal horror and pain with no escape. Would I regret not prolonging life then?
