My SN arrived, I panicked, and told the delivery man to cancel. I almost passed out. Now I want to order it again. I can't do anything right :(

I was panicking all week about SN causing a fire and about its fire hazards.

Even tho I was told that a sealed bottle posses little risk, I was still freaking out. Them a guy on Reddit told me it was dangerous to have it at home if I don't have a fire resistant cabinet so I chickened out.

AHHHHH. Now I am regretting having denied the SN. Why do I have to be so paranoid?!

I am scared SN will be banned or something, it was the perfect moment yet I ruined it.

Maybe take a moment and really take stock of things. Maybe you turned it away because it's not your time yet. That's nothing to be afraid or ashamed of. I've had my exit bag setup stowed away for 3 years now. For various reasons during that time, I have been at varying stages of CTB, but never quite ready. Now I'm backing away again for the moment. Don't be afraid to listen to yourself!

Sorry to hear that. I did a similar thing, I threw mine away when it arrived, because I was terrified of getting caught with it somehow. But I'm kicking myself because I know it's my only real ticket out of this nightmare, and things are going to get worse for me, I can tell.

You know. In the trunk of my new car there is CH 25 kg. I only bought it because it is available in my country. And it is legal even in such quantities. Why are you worried about the fire? Are you going to set it on fire?

I'm not setting it on fire but I read online that SN can ignite fire when in contact with certain combustible materials. I'm not sure how true is that given that I know almost nothing about chemistry. But I am very paranoid about fire.

I'm sorry about that, I'm in the same position. My situation is getting worse, yet I am scared of having it at home

I threw my first batch out. Have been holding onto the second batch for months, I don't want to throw it away because it's becoming harder to acquire.

SN is an oxidizing agent that will feed a fire. That being said, it can safely be stored in the container that is comes shipped in. Most containers are plastic so there is little issue with breaking the bottle. SN is sold as a food preservative in the U.S. and as such is readily available from a number of sources. There is no great, imminent danger in storing the salt.

People store all kinds of products at home that will feed an a fire and never give it a second thought. Chlorine powder for a swimming pool is one, propane for your grill, gasoline for your lawn mower etc. And don't forget about the danger of Lithium Ion batteries. You see it is all how you look at it.

I think that sometimes there are folks who post things just to try and scare people as a way of doing good. There is no information worse than misinformation. It is a shame, this should be a zone of safety and trust.

Don't worry about it. It is not more of a fire hazard than other oxidizing powders.

A disposable lighter sitting in a drawer is more of a fire hazard than SN. That is to say, no real appreciable hazard. SN is an oxidizer, but it doesn't spontaneously burst into flames. If it was 50lbs, I would say you need a fireproof container. For 1kg? Just store it somewhere that doesn't have active fire hazards, and you are fine. Just don't put it under the oven or over the stove.

The person who said that was likely just fear-mongering to keep you from getting the substance that can help with a peaceful end.

I highly doubt it gets hot enough in any home to make it spontaneously combust in its packaging when stored away from light.
One of my number one fears regarding heat and SN was that it would some how ruin it since it says to store it at what I think was around 80-90F?
My bedroom definitely can get that hot in the summer but I figure if it's kept in a blackout box inside another heavy-duty box it should be fine.

Googles telling me it can explode but it takes an insane amount of heat to do that.
Pretty sure none of us have to worry about it unless we live in a volcano lol

We order SN and expect to die by ingesting it, but instead are given a death by spontaneous combustion! lol

I think I am just being paranoid because some guys on Reddit where scaring me lol I got very mixed info but l think it's just a risk if there's already a fire and you sprinkle the SN (it would make it bigger). But I became very paranoid so I denied it :ehh:
