This is my first thread so forgive me if there is any mistake or whatever, but basically, my kitty is missing for a solid week now and she isn't the type to go far away for many days or even go outside of my backyard. Asked all my neighbours, hours searching in the street, posted missing notes on every corner, but nothing. My family and I are discussing the possibility that she has been poisoned by one of our neighbours who someone told me just today that they did that before with previous cats and i'm utterly destroyed. She was my light and probably my only reason left to not ctb, I don't know what I will do now that she is gone and probably dead. So, to the people with pets, how did you deal with the loss of your companion?

Hey. I am so sorry about your cat. From the bottom of my heart I understand this pain. I just lost my dog a few months ago. She was my heart and soul, the light of my life and I was sticking around just for her.

I'm not going to lie to you nothing can take away the hurt except maybe time. But some things that have helped me were making a memorial to my dog. Either outside or inside. Just a beautiful spot with some flowers and a little stone with decorations. If you have any belonging of your pet keep them close. I made a scrap book full of wonderful memories of my dog. Talking about the happy memories of her and never letting that go has helped me. Do you have some family or close friend to share memories with? I write down each memory of her so I never lose them. Many people say to get another pet after you l lose one but personally I disagree because nothing can replace our best friends (unless you want another pet)... although I already had another dog. I try to take comfort in knowing that my beloved best friend is at peace now.

I know there is nothing that can be said or done to take away the pain these are just a few things that helped me. I sincerely hope that your cat will return though. I know this is such a hard thing to go thru our pets become our best friends, our family and are so special. If you ever need someone to talk to feel free to message me. Hug.

I'm sorry for this. When it comes to cats, I've seen them disappear for months and return, even those that you think don't stray far - so don't give up hope.

I think with true animal lovers, the only thing we can do is to accept that we give these little creatures more love, than we give anyone. I am sure that this is what you did, but please don't give up hope of a safe return

It never gets easier, in my life i lost 6 cats and 1 dog. Paul & Berti , my two cats, are my best friends. They are one of the reasons i didn't ctb yet, but if i die they would go to my mother and brother.
They are my last cats in my life, i guess when they are gone i follow them.
Sometimes i dream of my cats from my childhood and teen years, these are one of the few happy moments in my life.

First of all, thank you very much for all your kind words, not many people I know around me can understand the pain of losing your soulmate companion. I'm so grateful.

I had in mind the memorial thing, and yes, my family in general shared beautiful memories with her, i'll try to make a scrapbook with drawings and pics of my darling because even if in a future I had another pet, how I could ever forget her? The only thing that gives me a bit of hope is knowing that for some reason someone took her to their house and they're taking good care of her. Thank you so much for your words and tips, I appreciate them so much.

i'm so sorry for your loss, Im all the time looking in the backyard in case that she returns home hoping she is stuck somewhere but safe, I just want to held her in my arms again as you say.

Yeah, some people already told me that cats usually disappear for days and that they return like nothing happened, but she's never been the type to stay away from the backyard more than a couple of hours, plus, any neighbour haven't seen her so I'm extra worried. Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot to me.

Haha now that she is gone I think i'm gonna ctb even sooner, I can't stand the thought of her being gone and even worse dead, I don't know what I will do without her, she was my whole heart. Sadly, if I ctb'd sooner I don't know where my cat would have been sent, so just to take care of her I was staying here. I'm so sorry for the lost of all of your pets, all my condolences to you.

I'm sorry for what you're going through and the uncertainty must make it even worse since you don't have any closure and can only wonder what happened. The inevitable death of my dog is one of the reasons I know I will have to CTB eventually, because I know the mourning will be too much for me. I still get sad when I think about my pet guinea pigs that died when I was a kid. I hope your beloved cat makes a safe return to you.

Since she left I just feel that my time has come and I can't wait to follow her. I hope she returns asap because even if she is dead, I'll probably won't know and doubt will haunt me for the rest of my life ugh. Im so sorry for your guinea pigs, they are in a better place for sure, much love to them. And thank you, I hope I can see her again safe and sound.❤️

Yeah, he was super rude and said he didn't saw anything and that how do we dare to interrumpt his nap lol, closed the damn door in my face and that makes it even more suspicious, but if I don't have any physical proof there is no way I can accuse him, so it's even harder to prove he actually did it.

Sorry :(

You have more patience and control than me. I would have yelled at him and kept banging on his door. Since the body hasn't turned up, there is still hope. Hopefully, the missing posters work. You've done everything you can, so now all you can do is hope for the best.

Usually, im a pretty impulsive and aggresive person, but this time I didn't have the strenght enough to even wipe the tears off my face, and I couldn't make a scandal in the street since it could bring me in trouble and that's not what I need right now.

Aaand, next to that neighbour's house there is a trashcan so... :') I don't even want to think about it.

Too bad someone hasn't caught him in the act and filmed him, so he can be charged. Who knows how many cats he's done that to and how many more he will do it to, if he isn't stopped.

People can be so mean sometimes, I will never understand how someone can take the life of an innocent cat or dog and can live with that like nothing happened, it just makes me want to throw up and cry.

Dandelion, I'm sorry your cat's gone - I understand how dreadful that must feel. Have you contacted the animal shelters in your area? I'll light some come-home-soon incense for her - what's her name?

Yep, they are aware of it and they are helping me with all of this mess, but every hour that passes it's more clear for them and for me that someone made something very bad to her. Thank you for the incense thing, I use that for a lot of things too, it means a ton.
Her name is Sashi, means moon in indian.

I'm sorry about your kitten. I know from experience neighbors right next door are capable of some really disgusting things like killing pets. They are sick people.

It's tough dealing with the loss of a pet. I try hard not to think about it.

I'm so, so sorry to hear this. I work in veterinary medicine and I see so many people with broken hearts on the worst day of their life every day, and it hurts me the same every time. I lost my best friend (a German shepherd who was afraid of her own shadow) a few years ago and it still feels like being stabbed in the heart every damn day. For me personally I like to believe that she would want me to be strong and help as many other animals as I can and do my best to make sure that no one suffers the loss of a best friend prematurely.
I completely understand feeling even more suicidal after losing a pet and I hope you know you're not alone. I wish I knew what advice to offer, or how to help.
Huge hugs to anyone else going through this, my PMs are always open

I hope you have found your pet safe and well xx

It breaks my heart losing my pets and has nearly pushed me over the edge a couple of times ,
I have had 6 German Shepherds and 4 Boxers over the last 30 years ,
last year i lost 3 all close together and 1 beginning of this year ,
I still get upset watching videos of them all and even talking about them .
A friend at bulldog rescue felt sorry for me and offered me Baby Agnes , my Frenchie (on my profile photo) and even though i said i would have no more i fell in love with her and i love her to death . My Ex has three and they are babies friends so she will go live with her when i CTB .
Some of My fur Babies gone but not forgotten xx

@Dandelion did Sashi ever turn up?
Hai! I had not been around this forum since forever because i've been so busy and stressed with daily life, but I can announce happily that she is back and completely fine! She is sleeping right next to me and i just want to cuddle her a lot.

Somebody saw her on another town far away from mine and warned me, it was so late at night and I didn't have any hope of finding her, cause u know, there are so many black cats around, but still she had a yellow collar that was pretty distinctive, so I went to that town and I found her in a field full of abandoned trash cans, poor baby, at first she was very scared and there was no way that she would go out of that place, but after 5 hours trying to grab her and put her in the car, I did it and I took her home. Now she is happy and safe again and I couldn't be more grateful to this forum who gave me a lot of hope during that rough thime.

I also think that someone had to take her that far away because it's pretty hard that she would have arrived alone there. Maybe Sashi was a nuisance to one of my neighbours and they decided to get rid of her like that, I honestly don't know.

I can say too, that now I have two more kitties wich I can take care of while i'm still here. They all are the light of my life.

Thanks for asking, it means a lot that somebody still remembers.❤️

That is GREAT news, I am so happy for you.
The best way to keep your cats safe, it to keep them inside.
But I know that is hard if the cats became accustomed to going outside.

I know, she and my other cats are permanently banned from going outside hahaha, I just hope she has a happy life indoors anyways❤️
