I know there have been many threads on this theme already, but I'm looking for suicide themed books or movies or shows.

I already have "the Bridge", "Christine", "the Bell Jar", "It's Kind of a Funny Story", "Thirteen Reasons Why", "Girl Interrupted", and "Suicide Notes"...

i don't remember if it's good or not, but i remember watching "my suicide" or "archie's final project" a few years back. 7.1/10 on imdb and 57% on rotten tomatoes if those numbers mean anything to you.

There's also 7 Pounds. I feel like it's missing something, though I wish I could CTB like that and help people on my way out. That was actually my childhood dream. I was suicidal since I was 9 and when it came time to pick a career, I went for infectious diseases to respond to deadly outbreaks and die doing something noble, but science in college ended up being too hard, lol. I still would love a way to sacrifice myself for a greater good.

Perfume : the story of a murderer, by Patrick Suskind

The character of Grenouille is as repulsive as it is endearing. Should reread the book, which left a great impression on me, too long ago
(hum, now reminded of my fav person in the world that I lost, my little cousin :( who wore the same nickname given by my deceased father)

Hi, by any chance is any of these movies pro-suicide ? I mean i wanted to watch a movie with suicidal theme where the MC actually commits the act and not just get over it . Thank you!

Well I'm not sure I would describe any of the films as "pro suicide", but "the Bridge", "Christine"? "The Bell Jar", "13 Reasons Why", and "Leaving Las Vegas" deal with completed suicides. There is a completed suicide in "Girl Interrupted" but it isn't the main character

There's this Spanish movie based on a true story about a paraplegic man fighting for his right to die. Was a pretty slow paced movie if I recall, though I saw it as a kid so I might appreciate it more today.

By the time you read this I'll be dead- Is my absolute favorite.!
movie: all the bright things on Netflix is also my favorite. The book is very good, but I think I really like it because the exact same thing happened to me except my friend hung himself and I found him.

nobody's mentioned it yet; my favorite movie is Before I Disappear. It always makes me feel pretty suicidal when I rewatch it but it also comforts me hugely... not for the "happy ending" (because of course there is) but because the way Richie feels and his lifestyle and character is really relatable to me. I actually might not feel as good rewatching it currently because if anything it might just drive home that like ahh dammit of course they give him a happy ending, where he just suddenly magically feels ok and hopeful despite his situation still being shit, that's not realistic and that's not gonna be me... while that once comforted me now it's kinda just depressing. I still treasure this movie tho.

Recently watched Sunshine Cleaners, it was kinda eh and not directly about suicidal characters but it's definitely a central theme, but I do like low budget awkward stuff like that.

Not a movie but I've been thinking about rewatching the anime Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (Goodbye Mr. Despair), which... i dunno how to explain or describe tbh. It's super weird but super good and I liked it a lot as a very edgy very suicidal young teen, might be an interesting rewatch as a still very edgy and still very suicidal adult.
