Is it an immediate death upon impact? Or possibly prolonged misery?

And if so how high?

I googled it but there is surprisingly little information.

apparently a jump from high enough will kill you before your body has time to register pain signals

i find that hard to believe though

The problem is that the only people qualified to give an answer are no longer with us. Those who survive high jumps usually suffer multiple broken bones and sometimes end up paralyzed or worse. Even if they went into shock upon impact, I am guessing their experience was incredibly painful. But who knows exactly how much of that pain you would feel before dying forever, if you used this method to CTB?

My gut feeling is even if you were ultimately successful, there would be a short period of incredible pain before losing consciousness fully.

I tried a few years ago to ctb, I ran out in front of a 18 wheeler, I felt no pain from the impact only when I was out of the coma did I feel pain.

I accidentally fell from a height of 15m once and it was immediately lights out. I remember the moments preceding the fall and the fall itself but not hitting the ground. It was like blinking and the world stopped to exist, there was absolutely not pain.
I was not one bit suicidal at the time but I remember thinking that if I had died in that moment it would have been incredibly easy.

Yes, I've heard that a few times from people who jumped and survived.

They blacked out after jumping and don't remember the fall or the impact.

It makes me more likely to consider jumping if I for some reason can't get SN. Still afraid of heights, though.

Survivor stories always involve jumping into water. So I think if you are going to jump it better be onto solid ground.

Do you have to land on your head for instant death? Landing feet first and shattering your legs while you slowly bleed out would be agony. I guess after a certain height it doesn't matter how you land.

I'm not sure but I would imagine that the adrenaline rush you would get during the fall would make it pretty painless. The aftermath in case you survive would be hell though.

The problem is - as with all other methods - what if you survive it?
The consequences of a jump are most likely severe and then you have even more problems and you may not be able to make your own decisions.

I've seen videos of people who jumped from really tall buildings, and there wasn't much left of their head/brain after the impact, so I think it might be true (think watermelon hitting concrete from high up)

Also, if you think about how boxers get "knocked out" from a punch to the head, think about the impact of hitting the floor (after jumping from a high-enough place)

Being drunk can up the chances of survival, as your body relaxes, and makes the impact less *impactful* its all stuff I have read on here, as jumping is my option.

Height wise, I don't think anything is truly painless, Though as someone above said, no one knows fully. some people die instantly from falling over, surely there is no pain then? quick and sudden?
