do you think life has to be justified too?

if i were to kill myself some random day, do you think i would need a reason?

i'm not sure where it came from. been suicidal for a bit, ordered SN a few years ago with the intent to use it the day i got it. but i was part of a musical that was showing the week after, and sort of just didn't go back to it.

maybe a little stupid, but i like weird little intuitive questions. i have a few more if you're interested :)

do you think wholeness is a prerequisite for love? do you think you're more capable of complex thought or complex emotion? what about humanity as a whole? do you agree with the idea of "the individual make up the whole" or do you think people as a whole are much different than individuals? i personally believe the latter.

talk to me lol. don't worry about saying something i don't want to hear. i want authentic honesty, none of that "thought-out" and premeditated bullshit. tell me what exactly comes to mind as soon as you read it.

No. I don't believe death needs a justification, but I do think that life, or more specifically, the act of having children, requires some kind of justification. Of course, I'm an antinatalist, so my view is biased in this aspect.

Life and death are both hard to justify, but I guess death is more justifiable. You aren't really given any choice on whether or not you're born, but you do get some say in whether your life continues or not. If someone decides to kill themselves, it'd be better if they have a reason, but ultimately it is their choice. They can have no reason if they want to.

Nah I don't think anything has to be justified, I recently found out a family member both owns shares from a prison corp (also weapons manufactures) but also works for a pro earth charity. They seem to think that "they are taking lives from others so they can feed people they care about", which to me seems pretty selfish. Cbt'ing in comparison I don't think even ranks as selfless it's actually ethical and equitable

There's always going to be a reason why someone killed themselves. It's more that other people will make judgements on whether their reasons were justifiable enough. It probably helps other people to come to terms with it better if they know their reasons also. Personally though- I think if someone is unhappy enough to risk killing themselves, that's likely reason enough. You'd hope they had at least weighed all their other options. Whether their problems were fixable. If anything in life still appealed to them enough to work at improving their life.

As for the other questions, not sure if I fully grasped them all. Whether wholeness is a prerequisite for love- I think it probably helps for someone to have a good sense of who they are before they enter into a relationship. Maybe even that cliche phrase- that you need to love yourself before you can love another. Maybe that's true. I can see how- going into a relationship where either- you don't quite know yourself, have massive insecurities, don't know how to set boundaries, tend to become co-dependent/ clingy could end badly if the partner is manipulative, abusive. Even if they are nice but eventually abandon the person- that's going to be especially bad if they can't sustain themselves emotionally alone. But then, I don't really know. I've never been in a relationship.

I think I'm capable of thinking and feeling deeply. How 'complex' they are though- I'm not sure. I'm not massively intelligent and I don't even understand my emotions always. One kind of follows the other though. If I have an emotion, I'll probably think about it. If I think something, I'll probably have an emotional response.

I think people are more individualistic rather than making up a unified whole. We work together when it suits us but I think as a species, we are more geared towards being in competition with one another. I may have interpreted your questions wrongly perhaps...

No, I don't think that death has to be justified. Firstly, we are going to die anyways so it doesn't matter whether we stay alive for 1 year or for 100 years. Secondly, pro lifers aren't even able to justify why they want to live so why should we have to justify why we want to die? All they say is that they want to live so why can't I simply say that I want to die earlier? Thirdly, we were born against our consent so we should be allowed to die whenever we want to. Also, it's impossible for a person who successfully killed themselves to regret not staying alive for longer. They can't have any regrets since they are no longer alive so what's the harm in somebody dying earlier?

I skimmed through but let me just answer your question and that is no. From a philosophical standpoint you can't justify it because you can't even. Define what you will be doing. I mean you can but let's sit for a bit and take in the factors you dont know, what happens after death, what actually happens as your dying (other than your heat stopping) and if it's better or worse than what we have now. You have no clue so sadly you can't justify what you're doing, and even if you try someone can always say you don't have proof to back it up. So to wrap this up, if you want to justify something it's cause your worried about others opinions on what your doing. Stop justifying what you're doing and do it because you want to and it's what you feel is right. My best wishes.

I think that you have to justify your death to yourself. If you can't do that then you shouldn't do it. I don't think that life be thrown away on a whim.

No, No, and No.

I think wholeness and love are both illusions, so no. I think complex thought is a skill and complex emotion isn't, so this question doesn't make sense to me. I think people act very differently in groups than by themselves, and I think this is widely understood and accepted, it's why psychology and sociology are different branches of study.

Is it a reason you want or a justification? If you're considering CTB then there's already a reason for it - you just might not know what it is.

As for justification, that's just a story you tell yourself about your feelings, your motivations and your actions. Far better to tell yourself the truth, if you can figure it out. You can try and invent justifications for the benefit of others, but the ones who need it will never accept you CTBing anyway, so what's the point?
