Discussion Do you know of any people who showed no signs of hesitation or uncertainity when committing suicide?

I read some pages of the how to hang yourself thread and there was a recurring theme of people attempting suicide and not going through with it. This worries me since I assumed that I would be able to go through with it the first time without any issues. Is that unrealistic?

well it can be difficult to find the right spot on your neck and can take practice but it is definitely possible to go through with it first try that is if you have the correct spot tho

For the most part, I believe anyway, the ones that follow through first time or not generally have put a lot of thought into many things. Their lives, their situations, methods, and much more. When you get to that point that it is truly time, they generally succeed.

Non hanging, but I have over come SI easily, but Ninja style police officers had other ideas, the barstewards!! If you time is there and your time is right, then I truely believe SI won't show itself and anything that follows is natural and meant to be. if SI kicks in then to me that is life saying it is not your time, whether we like it it or not

i think a lot of people do it spontaneously, spur of the moment
for me i dont know will it be in a month or in a year or maybe next week, but I know I will not hesitate or feel uncertain, then I will know the time is right and everything will be easy. Ok survialinsticnt will probably come up for a moment. I got to think about that a little and get comfortable with it.

Know of 3 from the Exit site who showed no hesitation at all and had been planning for months, but then they had the N. I'm sure the method makes a big difference.

My first attempt was an overdose and ligature hanging. I didn't hesitate at all and my SI was practically gone. It got easier once I'd swallowed the first mouthful and the drowsiness set in though. I think SI can be overcome if you're absolutely certain, but it's not easy.
