Venting basically homeless

living in my sister's house past few months, under the assumption that i would find my own place by this summer (june). well, it's quickly approaching and i can tell that my sister is losing her patience. the problem is there are no apartments for rent in my price range, and the few that do appear i don't get a response or they rent to somebody else. even if i did find a place, i don't even have the money for a deposit/first month's rent, never-mind the other expenses that come with moving.

my only option pretty soon is to call local authorities and be homeless. wtf is even the point anymore though, i just want to ctb instead. what future do i have? be homeless and live in a hostel for months and then maybe get a place? what about after that? i'm too mentally ill to work, and i'm so suicidal that i don't even care to try anymore. i don't even have the energy to contact somebody for help, i just want to give up. i'm so sick of fighting and fighting my whole life and getting nowhere. life just keeps kicking me back down and i'm really tired of dragging myself back up. i don't even have anywhere to ctb because hotels are not even open because of covid; maybe a cliff but that is risky and not my preferred method, but i'm desperate and so tired of everything

Homelessness is hard to deal with, I'm sorry for your pain. The best you can do is buy a coat, tent, mattress, bed cover. That way you can keep warm in winter. You won't really need it in summer, but it seems like you are going to be homeless for a long time.

honestly have only one friend i still talk to and can't stay with them, no other family either. and the problem is i don't think i will feel better again, i've been struggling my whole life with these illnesses

Sorry to read this. I guess I got lucky with the local council and got referred into supported accommodation (because of mental health) and I live in a shared house with pretty decent dudes rather than a hostel. Maybe find out if there are organisations like that in your area/ask the council, emphasising your poor mental health.

Maybe you can talk to your sister again and gain some time until another solution is found.

Your current situation is really difficult - I hope you find a solution.

You CANNOT LET YOURSELF BE HOMELESS!!! That is hell and you may not come back for a long time,if ever. And who knows what kind of scum you might encounter on the streets?
Talk to your sister,try to extend your stay and try to get some kind of charity house. Its better than nothing!

BW's, are you in the mental health system? What area of the country do you live? There are options for housing apart from calling your local council and I might be able to suggest something.

not in the mh system anymore, as there's barely any help where i am (ireland). housing situation is really crap here as well, not helped by our absolute stupid government. from what i know they tend to just place all homeless people into hostels (and only if there's space), and they're not meant to be the safest of places. just sick of having to fight this much just to survive it's messed up!

Ok, it's just that here in the UK there are housing associations where you can go onto their waiting lists directly and not have to go via the local authority. Not many but there are some. If you have any of those in Ireland, find them and set up an alert with them on Rightmove and keep an eye on their websites.

Also, if you can, it will help if there's a possibility you can go to your doctors and tell him/her you are suicidal due to your housing situation. And if possible get your sister to say she wants you out, you don't get on and living there is making you go on suicide forums etc. Here in the UK, if your housing situation is damaging you, you can often get a letter to that effect.

I'm really sorry you're going through this.
It's certainly a very difficult situation to be in but if you have no other choice, call the local authorities and see if you can get some help. It will be better than sleeping under a bridge!!

I hope you can get some kind of shelter or a cheap room somehow.
