Are you better off alone?

Love, friends, family, parties, raves with random people and so on!

Most of those things have disappeared because I decided I wanted to be alone and lonely.

Do I miss those times? Sure but, due to being so mentally unstable (although quite stable lately) I think I'm better off alone and that's what I tell myself everyday when I look in the mirror lol.

What about you? Are you better off alone?

I don't know... I don't like people in general. However, I still believe having someone, who can share you the vision and mentality, is a plus point. I might be wrong, not sure. I think such person doesn't exist :D

Deep down I yearn for a person to form a meaningful connection with, but logically, I know it's a pointless search and that even if I found someone who could understand and accept me, they'd abandon me at some point. I have and always will be alone whether I like it or not. I don't know if I'm better off this way, but I have no choice.

I'm certainly not, though the world would definitely be better off if I am alone for the rest of my life because there'd be a higher chance of me withering away and dying sooner and thus making the world a better place.

Basically it is all my life that i'm alone....actually i'd love to have people around me that love me....friends,boyfriend,family.when i was a teenager i used to isolate myself often, i enjoyed being alone i was not the kind of person who suffered from loneliness i needed loneliness to recharge my batteries, then unfortunately everything changed and it turned into severe depression

I grew up alone, so that just became my comfort zone. I have tried time and time again to be more outgoing and social but it never really comforts me as much as being alone. I don't feel lonely when I'm by myself, I feel more lonely when I'm with others.

I prefer to be alone. I have an introverted personality and social interactions are mental gymnastics to me as I'm always walking on eggshells.

It is not good for man to be alone, that's what the bible says. As animals we're designed for social interaction. I feel better having contact with people but too much is tiring - it's hard work! I need solitary time too - Found when walking the dog; 'getting my head showered' as the Irish would say.

Then there's those who feel called to a life of solitude - nuns, monks - and they just glow with a sense of peace.

Good question. Keep searching. Your post about 'I'm alive...but not living'. Touched me. Very poetic in style and to me that's a gift. Some of life's beauty: art, music has come from the most tortured souls.

It's not good for my mental health or me to be alone and I don't feel good alone. However, I feel that it is better for others to be without me. I find that others no longer want to be with me. I'm too different when I show my real face.

When I think back in time, I find that I have always tried to please others without caring about myself so that I am not alone and accepted. Nowadays, I don't want anyone close to me and I don't want to be visible. That's why I'll probably leave today if all goes wel l.

You're not alone. I have the same issue, I'm asocial and I find people hard to handle and deal with. They are all annoying to me. And the same thing, they find me annoying too. Everyone has their ugly and annoying sides, no one's perfect, if you wanna get along with people you need to compromise, that's why I prefer to be alone instead of being surrounded by those toxic people (not all people are toxic, but many of them are toxic). Being surrounded by toxic people drained all my energies away.

Similar to what others have stated. Being alone was the comfort and safety zone when I was growing up. Plus I am very introverted so socializing is exhausting. Now I prefer to be solitary, it just feels better to me. I try occasionally to do social things, but am not good at it and very relieved when it is over.

Yes. I am naturally introverted and I get tired of being around people easily. Despite this I have had close friends as a child and a teenager but I am not in contact with them anymore. I often felt like keeping friends was a burden placed on my self. I don't really miss them as I find comfort in being around my cat instead.

Good point and if you've known this then I hope your rough path soon becomes smooth. Life is full of experiences and some, as hard as they are, can be used to help others.

Yes - mostly. I see many people each day when I go outside, some of them regularly, but they are not individuals that I would consider close or have any connection to. In this situation I would prefer to be on my own, physically, than be surrounded by groups of people that I feel I do not belong with.
