In Toronto, there's the Prince Edward Viaduct, where the government spent $5.5m on the Luminous Veil barrier that was supposed to prevent suicides. However, nearby bridges such as the Leaside Bridge are just as lethal and don't have the protection.

Back when I was in Toronto, I considered jumping off the Leaside Bridge to be a nice "fuck you" to all the people trying to forcibly decide about others' lives. I got close to jumping at one point, but survival instinct kept me from doing it.
