Hello there. I appreciate any informed replies in advance. New here and hope I am not breaking any rules in seeking advice below.
I work in the vet med field, and have consequently witnessed and been part of many euthanasia's, some humane and some not. Ideally the creature is pre-medicated with sedatives like dexdomitor/Dexmedetomidine and Torbugesic/Butorphanol Tartate, sometimes ketamine or propofol though, and once we're confident they no longer are showing signs of pain or anything but peaceful sedation (typically 5-15minutes depending on animal and condition) the pentobarbital is injected until their heart stops.
I recognize that me somehow finding someone to sell me legitimate Seconal for my own humane euthanasia is very unlikely. I have no idea how to use the dark web and the city i live in is full of fentanyl junkies. Which has got me thinking that perhaps fentanyl would be a humane euthanasia method and perhaps serve as sedation and life stopping all in one.
Through my job I can take a syringe pump, hook up a syringe of whatever I decide on, and set the rate and time to inject into the IV catheter I would place at home, and just click start and lay down.
I have a high pain tolerance and am fine with blood letting as a method, as it seems fool proof enough if done correctly compared to hanging/gun/SN/drowning/suffocation, however my issue with all these methods is first, I don't want to make it more shit and traumatic than it needs to be on my roommates or friends to find my body like that, with the syringe pump it will look as though I have simply fallen asleep peacefully which is the kindest presentation I feel, but second I feel other methods leave a factor of variability in the air, and not a 100% success rate. The idea of waking in a coma paralyzed or with diminished function te rest of your life is appalling, even if you leave a written will stating DNR and no life support.
Finding information on those who have almost died from fentanyl and come back is difficult. One single report I have found is of a long time heroin user stating fentanyl was more euphoric and blissful than the first time using heroin, that it was worth the risk of dying for it. But of course this isn't exactly helpful, seeing as I have never used heroin or any drugs really, and just don't want my last moments to be in panic or fear in respiratory distress or feel like I'm drowning, since from what I understand fentanyl essentially kills by blocking the function wehave that allows us to draw in a breath when needed, so my question is, if anyone has experience with this, or any medical knowledge relating to how it kills and if you would be sedated prior to that? Or is it like you are paralyzed and being suffocated?
I also didn't know if anyone knew of any helpful resources regarding Seconal or pentobarbital. As a back up. I can access the ketamine but know the majority of people in Oregon who fill Seconal/physician assisted suicide predictions don't go on to use them ... Is there a place where these leftovers are known to be sold, or a way to contact these people in Oregon somehow to purchase potentially?
Any help appreciated. I wish we lived in a world where we could simply elect this after discussion with some deciding professional and sit down for a peaceful end instead of risking so much deciding the most efficient peaceful method. But then I wish we lived in a world where it was possible to exist with deep empathy and not suffer for upon realizing the true nature and reality we exist in.
