What is the genera idea of leaving pets behind ? I really have an unconditional love for them and I`m pretty sure that they are a reason for me to be alive right now, any thoughts about it for those who have or had pets in their lives ? I have two dogs which I love very dearly but I just feel that I won`t be able to take care of them all the way through....

I wouldn't do it. Never never ever never. I love my dog too much to leave her behind. I know she will suffer even if temporarily if I disappear from her life.

When she passes away, it will not take more than two weeks at most for me to leave this existence, but until then, I am chained to this life. I would rather suffer for years to come than let my dog suffer in my place.

I agree... But don`t you think that change is also a part of nature ? I mean, in theory, anything could happen to you at any time... I don`t know, maybe I`m just being too suicidal right now....

If I die by natural causes, a disease, an accident or if I am murdered, then there is nothing I can do about it. My dog will have to live the rest of her days without me. But suicide is something that is up to me, and I am not doing it until the day she dies.

i'm just thinking about like, what if you left that pet to somebody. like someone you trusted would take care of it.
like, it's one thing to be given something before someone goes. but to like, have an animal that grows and ages and is dynamic and to care for, for someone who left you both behind.
that'd be a trip i think.

I think it depends on the species of the pet and what kind of environment the pet grew up in. A pet that stayed most of their life in the backyard, for example, and isn't overly attached to a human... Well, such pet could probably find happiness and comfort somewhere else if their owner kills themselves.

But a pet that was raised very close to a particular human and is very attached to this human would probably suffer lots. It isn't unheard of, and there is even the term "velcro dog" for them. Such kind of pet can become depressed if their owner disappears, and even die (either from depression or from refusing to eat). I don't want my dog to go through anything like that, so I don't kill myself just yet.

However, if someone wants to kill themselves and leave their pet(s) behind, I am not in position to judge. At least try to find a place/someone to take care of the pets.

I adore my pets but can't really go on for several more years. The good news is they are family pets and I have a big family, so other people will be able to take care of them.

Sorry if I said too much, it is just a sensitive topic to me, especially since my dog is 6 years old and I am super worried about her health declining in the upcoming years. I want to do whatever I can so she can leave healthy and happy as long as possible.

I have dogs and It does make me really sad to leave them behind. They have been the ones that have stayed up with me until 4am to be with me while I cry. Sometimes I was even convinced they knew something was wrong with me. I know my boyfriend will take care of them however and My family knows how much they mean to me and might even want to take care of them to help them grieve. Im not worried about them not being loved or missing me because they will be spoiled and will have great people to love on.

I hope my family will keep my cat. If not - I hope he goes to a loving home.

Rehoming my dog is my number one priority right now. Which is why it's so hard for me to focus on my methods and gathering the resources to do it. I know she'd have a better life with someone stable who can live and enjoy life with her.

Gosh all this talk of dogs is just sad. We really don't deserve their presence. Dogs and I'm sure other species as well are too pure for this cruel world.

This is partly why I'm still here. My husband would be too sad to care for all of them and my angora needs very specific care. I dont want my pets to be homeless

:aw: I hate having pets for this reason. It's so fucking sad. I hate that pets are there for u the most yet u can't explain that ur hurting and want to ctb. The only option is to just leave and it's gonna make them confused AF! My dog lays with me all the time when I cry and she tries to lick my face for the tears. Breaks my heart!

Yeah, I never wanted any pets. My mother suddenly brought this dog to the house six years ago, and she was so absurdly cute (a dachshund puppy, not even two months old) and I just couldn't resist...

My dog does that too, the licking thing. While I think she wants to comfort me somehow, I think she also just enjoys the salty tears.

My 6 month old puppy does try to help in her crazy way haha.
But me and my partner has talked about what would happen if I died (he was worried I had cancer - was stomach ulcer)
He would go move back in with his Nan, but the dog would have to go to his Dads.
His Dad loves hour dog, and his step mum has a guide dog who loves my dog too.
I know she would be in good hands.
