Forget about nitrogen gas, sodium nitrite and R2D Rebreather II - all these suicide methods can fail. However, this suicide method that I am going to tell you about is reliable but not peaceful: take cannabis, alcohol and sleeping pills in advance. Tape over mouth and nose with a strong and thick tape over the face and the head like a mummy so that there will be an airtight seal. You will slowly be suffocated and you will die. The method will be painful and uncomfortable but only for a few minutes.

I might try to do it once day I'm suffering from a terrible DOWN thanks to my lovely bipolar disorder.

It sounds like a horrible way to go. Personally I would rather try the SN or some kind of gas method even know these can fail. I know the things you have suggested like alcohol can suppress the survival instinct part (which holds me back with a lot of methods) so it's always a possibility - I would have to be really desperate.

I have a feeling that survival instinct (SI) will prevent you from CTB. It's painful AF, and there's enough time to remove those tapes from orifices. I don't think alcohol and sleeping pills are enough to stop SI there since there are plenty of opportunities to escape that situation.

Throwing yourself into a deep lake with bricks chained to your feet sounds just as painful.
But with that you wouldn't be able to pull something off your face and I don't see how you could recover from it once you jump in.

That sounds horrendous and I doubt its anywhere near certain either. The brain can survive on a tiny amount of blood flow and you will be a bed ridden vegetable for 4 decades in some hospital only being able to hear and maybe talk and see.

This is my method. But I can't do that with alcohol and marijuana. I'll do it with propofol. This method can be peaceful only with a drug that will knockdown you in just seconds.

I mean there's a lot of foolproof methods. They're just absurdly unpleasant.

Like slowly driving a knife through your chest cavity. Or stabbing yourself multiple times.

Or lighting yourself on fire.

David Foster Wallace tied his hands behind his back and hung himself so he couldn't get out. That'll kill you.

But I think the brain always leaves a little wiggle room so they can escape.

That's why poisons fail so often. People almost always panic and then rush for help. Cant help it.

a few minutes? jesus christ i stayed off here for awhile got my kit together and come on to see this. that's insane. yeah i want to lull myself had to prepare myself then to see someone with the worst idea. my kit that i have i'll be out in less than a minute and gone within minutes if that. that's a hard pass for me

Failures occur when someone either doesn't follow a procedure right, calls for help or is found. that is why people should do research and make sure it is what they want to do, rather than risk making things worse for themselves. I think you will find every single account of failure is always due to being found or something being done incorrectly, or calling for help. It is the individuals fault not the method itself. you will find plenty of people CTB successfully following all different methods, this is why people should be 100% its what they want, as doing some of these methods WILL lead to death guaranteed
